About Rodz Dance Studio

Mrs. Rod owe's her love of dance and her perseverance to establish this studio to her father, Juan J. Longoria, who always told her to let her heart soar and keep dancing because that was what she loves to do.

Upon completion of her dance degree, Mrs. Rod became the Del Rio High School dance teacher in 1991. In 1999 Mrs. Rod founder the prestigious and award winning Del Rio High School Dance Company. Building this dance team from the ground up, Mrs. Rod has been able to turn young ladies and gentlemen- some who've never even danced before -into an award winning team who competes against dancers who have been dancing their whole lives.

After high school, Mrs. Rod attended Texas Women's University in Denton, Texas where, in 1991, she would go on to earn her Bachelors of Science in Dance with a certification from the State of Texas to teach dance. While at Texas Women's University, Mrs. Rod intensively studied ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, lyrical, modern, contemporary, clogging, ballet folklorico, scottish, african, flamenco, and many more styles. She was a member of the International Dance Company, Sun Dance Jazz and Tap Performing Group, and the Pavione Modern Dance Company.

Mrs. Rod started dancing at the age of 4 at Beverly's School of Dance in Del Rio, Texas where she studied ballet, tap, and jazz. In elementary and middle school Mrs. Rod was in pep-squad and a Pee-Wee Cowboys cheerleader. Once Mrs. Rod entered high school, she auditioned for the Queen City Belles. Mrs. Rod was on the team all through out high school and was even Lieutenant her junior and senior year.

Mrs. Rod has been a prominent dance figure in Del Rio for years. She has taken her 49 years of dance and 25 years of teaching experience and created Rodz Dance Studio.‚Äč
